Living Lab: mobility and logistics experimentation space.
We test innovative solutions in real conditions in Vitoria-Gasteiz and Álava
We try out technologies, products and services under real conditions within a regulated framework with a clearly-defined test protocol.
What Living Lab is and how it works
We are a Living Lab for mobility, making it possible to test out and validate innovative solutions in urban mobility and logistics under real conditions.
We work as an experimental environment where companies, startups and organisations can test technologies before rolling them out, thereby reducing risks and improving decision-making.
We work with a sandbox to facilitate innovation without the usual limitations, at the same time ensuring control and security in testing.
-
WE DRIVE
innovation in urban mobility and logistics
-
WE VALIDATE
solutions in real environments before rolling them out
-
WE GENERATE
applied, transferable knowledge
Experimentation spaces
Mobility Lab offers 8 experimentation spaces in real environments, technical infrastructure and a catalogue of services. It uses a unique regulatory sandbox in Álava.
TYPES OF EXPERIMENTATION SPACE
-
Smart public transport
We test solutions aimed at improving the efficiency, sustainability and experience of public transport, including systems for management, electrification, digitalisation and service models.
-
Active mobility and micromobility
We test solutions related to pedestrian, cyclist and micromobility device mobility, focusing on accessibility, safety and connectivity, and efficient use of urban space.
-
Intermodal logistics
We validate solutions to optimise goods transport by combining different modes (road, rail and air), boosting the efficiency and integration of the logistics chain.
-
Last-mile distribution
We test technologies, operating models and solutions for urban goods distribution, adapted to urban environments and access and mobility conditions.
-
High-capacity roads
We test solutions on roads and main arteries to enhance traffic management, safety, efficiency and the integration of new technologies.
-
Connected, autonomous and clean vehicles
We experiment with connectivity solutions and vehicle automation in controlled environments, facilitating the development of new smart mobility technologies.
-
Road safety and accessibility
We test solutions aimed at reducing accident rates, improving safety and ensuring that mobility is accessible to all.
-
Drones and aerial mobility
We test the use of unmanned aerial vehicles in logistics, inspection and mobility, in controlled environments and under regulated conditions.
INFRASTRUCTURES AND TECHNOLOGY AVAILABLE
-
Cameras for analysing data
We capture real-time information to analyse patterns of mobility, traffic and urban behaviour.
-
Occupancy sensors
We measure the occupancy of places like car parks or specific zones, facilitating the efficient management of use of the space.
-
Mobility counters
We record flows of bicycles, pedestrians and vehicles in order to understand mobility patterns and support decision-making.
-
Variable message panels
We give real-time information to users and operators, enhancing traffic management and the mobility experience.

-
Car park monitoring
We analyse the use and availability of parking in order to optimise its management and cut the associated congestion.
-
Environmental measuring equipment
We measure air quality and environmental variables in order to assess the impact of mobility on the environment.
