The Vitoria-Gasteiz Araba Mobility Lab Foundation strengthens private sector participation in its Board of Trustees with two new members that bring strategic capabilities in energy storage and cybersecurity applied to mobility.
The Vitoria-Gasteiz Araba Mobility Lab Foundation continues to expand its Board of Trustees with the incorporation of Basquevolt and Eurocybcar. Following the recent addition of Michelin and Kapsch TrafficCom, these two new members strengthen public-private collaboration and bring knowledge and expertise in key areas for the future of mobility.
The electrification of transport and the growing connectivity of vehicles and infrastructures pose new technological challenges. In this context, the incorporation of both companies expands the capabilities of the Mobility Lab ecosystem and opens up new opportunities for collaboration in research, innovation and testing projects.
Basquevolt: new technologies for energy storage
Basquevolt is a technology company based in Vitoria-Gasteiz specialising in the development of next-generation batteries. Its activity focuses on solid-state and lithium-metal energy storage technologies, with potential applications in electric mobility and other industrial sectors.
Its incorporation will strengthen the capabilities already represented on the Board of Trustees in a strategic area for moving towards more sustainable and efficient transport systems.
Pablo Fernández Santos, CEO of Basquevolt, stated:
“The incorporation of Basquevolt into Mobility Lab reflects our commitment to contributing, from Álava and the Basque Country, to the development of the strategic technologies that will define the mobility of the future. We are convinced that collaboration, open innovation and the connection between industry, technology and institutions are essential to strengthening Europe’s technological and industrial autonomy and to generating sustainable, high value-added growth.
For a company like Basquevolt, dedicated to the development of next-generation batteries and with a highly international team, the challenges of mobility go far beyond the vehicle. They also include sustainability, connectivity, logistics and the ability to attract and retain global talent. In this regard, initiatives such as Mobility Lab help build a more competitive, innovative and attractive environment for cutting-edge technology companies.”
Eurocybcar: cybersecurity for increasingly connected mobility
Eurocybcar, a technology company led by its founder and CEO, Azucena Hernández, specialises in cybersecurity applied to the mobility ecosystem.
The company develops its own technologies to assess and certify the cybersecurity level of vehicles, fleet management systems, applications and mobility infrastructures, using as a reference the requirements of the UNECE R155 regulation and the ISO 21434 standard.
Its incorporation brings new capabilities in an area that is becoming increasingly important for the development of connected and autonomous vehicles, as well as for the digitalisation of mobility services and infrastructures.
In the words of Azucena Hernández, CEO and founder of Eurocybcar:
“Eurocybcar’s contribution as a trustee of Mobility Lab will make Araba an international benchmark in mobility, as it will be home to the first living lab with products and services to assess and certify CyberMobility. This will enable Mobility Lab to offer automotive manufacturers and suppliers, as well as logistics and mobility companies, a testing environment with the added value of cybersecurity and compliance with international CyberMobility regulations.”
A Board of Trustees that keeps adding capabilities
With these new additions, Mobility Lab continues to strengthen business participation in its Board of Trustees and to expand the technological and sectoral capabilities of its ecosystem.
Collaboration between public administrations, companies, technology centres and universities is one of the pillars of the Foundation, whose aim is to drive the development and validation of innovative solutions in mobility and logistics.
Through its testing spaces, its test infrastructures and its participation in innovation projects, Mobility Lab works to make Vitoria-Gasteiz and Álava a benchmark environment for the development of new mobility solutions that are more sustainable, safe, digital and efficient.
