Three of these \u2013 focusing on intermodal\u00a0logistics, last-mile distribution and winter road maintenance \u2013 will be presented this Thursday at the \u2018Mobility and Logistics Data Spaces\u2019 event, organised in Madrid alongside other projects and leading organisations in the sector.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Vitoria-Gasteiz, 23 June 2026<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Data sharing is now essential for the development of key sectors such as mobility and&nbsp;logistics, sectors that require not only&nbsp;state-of-the-art&nbsp;physical infrastructure but also digital infrastructure. Mobility Lab Vitoria-Gasteiz&nbsp;is taking a new step in this area thanks to the consolidation of&nbsp;<strong>MOVDATA, its Mobility and Logistics Data Hub<\/strong>, to which&nbsp;<strong>28 organisations have already signed up<\/strong>&nbsp;to share and use data independently, promoting interoperability.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In fact, MOVDATA&nbsp;<strong>is one of seven operational sustainable mobility data spaces recognised by the Data Spaces Reference Centre (CRED)<\/strong>, an initiative launched by the Directorate-General for Data to promote the development of sectoral data spaces in Spain. Following&nbsp;an initial&nbsp;pilot in 2024, which led to it obtaining certification from the&nbsp;<strong>International Data Spaces Association (IDSA<\/strong>), MOVDATA was added to&nbsp;<strong>the CRED Trusted List last month<\/strong>. It currently has&nbsp;<strong>54 shared datasets and five data-sharing projects promoted<\/strong>&nbsp;by this ecosystem.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To consolidate its development, Mobility Lab has launched&nbsp;<strong>two new digital platforms<\/strong>, which underpin its ambition to focus on collaboration, knowledge sharing and the strategic use of data: firstly, a new corporate website,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/mobilitylab.eus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">mobilitylab.eus<\/a>, has been launched; secondly, the revamped platform&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dataspace.mobilitylab.eus\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">dataspace.mobilitylab.eus<\/a>&nbsp;has been launched, from which MOVDATA is evolving.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">MOVDATA: a growing ecosystem for secure data sharing\u00a0\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">MOVDATA continues to&nbsp;establish&nbsp;itself as a leading platform for the secure and governed exchange of data in the field of mobility and&nbsp;logistics. Currently,&nbsp;<strong>28 organisations<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2014 including companies, public administrations, technology centres and other stakeholders in the ecosystem \u2014 are part of this initiative, collaborating within an environment designed to facilitate access to high-quality data and promote the&nbsp;<strong>development of new services, use cases and innovative projects<\/strong>.&nbsp;<strong>Nine of these&nbsp;organisations have joined via the Data Spaces Kit<\/strong>&nbsp;launched by the State Secretariat for Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence (SEDIA) of the Ministry for Digital Transformation and the Civil Service.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Through this data platform, participating organisations can share information in an interoperable manner, whilst&nbsp;retaining&nbsp;control over their data at all times&nbsp;<strong>and operating under a governance model that ensures security,&nbsp;trust&nbsp;and compliance with the established criteria<\/strong>. This model fosters collaboration between organisations which, by working together, can accelerate the development of solutions aimed at more efficient,&nbsp;sustainable&nbsp;and smart mobility.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As part of this development, Mobility Lab is launching&nbsp;a new technology&nbsp;platform that simplifies data access and sharing. The new digital infrastructure enables these processes to be managed much more efficiently,&nbsp;facilitating&nbsp;<strong>the publication and use of data assets, access management and the gradual introduction of new services and features.<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A national benchmark and pilot projects with potential&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CRED is the public initiative that encourages organisations to create value in the data economy through the secure and efficient sharing of information. MOVDATA is one of the&nbsp;<strong>33 data hubs on its Trusted List<\/strong>&nbsp;(<strong>seven of which fall within the field of sustainable mobility<\/strong>), a recognition it has earned thanks to its level of development and potential.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Part of this success lies in its&nbsp;<strong>five pilot projects<\/strong>: MOVDATA has&nbsp;a number of&nbsp;use cases that have already been tested, which, from the outset, were designed in collaboration with industry stakeholders to become tools of real value. Three of these will be presented this Thursday in Madrid at the&nbsp;<strong>\u2018Mobility and Logistics Data Spaces\u2019<\/strong>&nbsp;event, co-organised by the NEXMO project, UC3M,&nbsp;Espai&nbsp;de&nbsp;Dades&nbsp;M3,&nbsp;UPCxels, Mobility Lab,&nbsp;GeoSpace&nbsp;Data and Gaia-X.&nbsp;All of&nbsp;these initiatives reinforce the opportunity presented by data sharing in mobility and intermodal&nbsp;logistics, and make MOVDATA not just a virtual data space, but the tool that will bring together a more efficient,&nbsp;connected&nbsp;and forward-looking sector.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the one hand, \u2018<strong>DataLOG: Data for Intermodal Logistics\u2019<\/strong>&nbsp;has developed a platform where, thanks to data sharing via MOVDATA, both&nbsp;<strong>node managers and operators throughout the supply chain<\/strong>&nbsp;can gain a better understanding of information on loads, locations, arrival times, containers and routes, thereby optimising the entire journey of the goods and overcoming one of its greatest challenges:&nbsp;<strong>the fragmentation of information and reactive operations caused by a lack of visibility.<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mobility&nbsp;<strong>Lab&nbsp;demonstrated&nbsp;how this tool works last week in&nbsp;J\u00fandiz<\/strong>, where representatives from the Vitoria-Gasteiz&nbsp;Intermodal Transport and Logistics Centre were able to see for themselves the benefits of data sharing in their day-to-day operations.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In fact,&nbsp;J\u00fandiz&nbsp;presents a unique opportunity for this type of tool: with the intermodal platform currently under development and expansion, initiatives such as&nbsp;DataLOG&nbsp;meet the need&nbsp;<strong>for&nbsp;cutting-edge&nbsp;infrastructure \u2013 not only physical, but also digital<\/strong>.&nbsp;J\u00fandiz&nbsp;is a strategic hub for the future&nbsp;<strong>Rail Motorways and the European TEN-T network<\/strong>, and its expansion will provide it with facilities for loading and unloading containers (up to a capacity of 170,000 TEUs per year) and capacity for&nbsp;150,000 semi-trailers per year, c<strong>onnecting the CTV with the main European ports and distribution centres<\/strong>, thereby enabling a significant reduction in the carbon footprint. In this context, data sharing becomes a fundamental part of the infrastructure.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, the \u2018<strong>DataDUM. Data for a More Sustainable Urban Goods Distribution\u2019<\/strong>&nbsp;project aims to improve last-mile urban&nbsp;logistics&nbsp;through data sharing. It offers two services: smart,&nbsp;<strong>real-time management of loading and unloading zones, and the coordination of a&nbsp;microhub<\/strong>&nbsp;located near the central superblock in Vitoria-Gasteiz, for&nbsp;consolidated&nbsp;deliveries using zero-emission vehicles. All of this is supported by MOVDATA, which connects public authorities,&nbsp;operators&nbsp;and technology&nbsp;in accordance with&nbsp;the principles of data sovereignty.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project has already taken a key step:&nbsp;<strong>validation under real-world conditions<\/strong>. In early June, the consolidation of goods from a peripheral warehouse was tested, coordinated with last-mile distribution at the&nbsp;microhub, with cargo bike deliveries to the city centre of Vitoria-Gasteiz&nbsp;in partnership with Eraman Coop, and linked to a digital loading and unloading management system. All of this is underpinned by the aim of making urban&nbsp;logistics&nbsp;more efficient,&nbsp;sustainable&nbsp;and coordinated.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finally, on Thursday, Mobility LAB will present a pilot scheme developed as part of the European&nbsp;<strong>CitizenCity<\/strong>&nbsp;project, with the aim of&nbsp;<strong>improving winter road maintenance<\/strong>. Involving Datua IA (Teknei&nbsp;Group), Factual,&nbsp;EstudiosGis&nbsp;and the Provincial Council of&nbsp;\u00c1lava, this is&nbsp;<strong>one of the first projects to be launched within MOVDATA<\/strong>, which began in March 2025.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last November, work began on a project aimed at strengthening the operational and warning capabilities of the NIEVES system, a key tool in the&nbsp;<strong>winter management of the regional road network<\/strong>.
